Accounts Receivable & Front Office Coordinator

Greets faculty, staff, students and visitors and gives information to callers. Assists CFO/Controller and Assistant Controller with miscellaneous bookkeeping tasks and journal entries. Monitors student accounts receivable system-generated data for accuracy and ensures that student account information is submitted for payment on a timely basis. Receipts all incoming payments received. Relieves officials of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets faculty, staff, students and visitors, ascet1ains nature of business, and conducts faculty, staff, students, and visitors to appropriate person.
  • Answer all accounts receivable phone inquiries, researches any questions/complaints, and acts accordingly.
  • Responsible for opening all accounts receivable mail received on a daily basis in the presence of another employee.
  • Research and verify system-generated charges initiated by other departments for accuracy.
  • Research and verify financial aid transactions generated by the Financial Aid department
  • for accuracy.
  • Responsible for emailing student account information and collecting any unpaid balance and for billing 3rd party vendors for tuition payments.
  • Flagging or coding problem student accounts.
  • Responsible for communicating student charges and the Business Office policy information at all student orientations, or other events.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling Nelnet payment plans.
  • Receipt incoming payments for accounts receivable, institutional advancement and miscellaneous income received on a daily basis.
  • Balance and reconcile all monies received at days end.
  • Prepare and/or enter journal entries to the General Ledger.
  • Process all incoming and outgoing mail and packages for the college and maintain postage equipment.
  • Responsible for scheduling driver assigning training courses, distributing keys for, and maintaining the college fleet vehicles.
  • Order paper in bulk for the college throughout the year.
  • Supervises all student worker(s) assigned to the Business Office. Responsible for all duties performed by the student worker(s) if the student worker(s) is not working that day.
  • Assists with special projects.
  • Co-host ROAR programming for Parents with the Financial Aid Office which may require weekend sessions. This includes updating Powerpoint handouts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises student worker(s) when assigned to the office. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the College’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work to student worker(s); addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Graphic Design

The Young Harris College Department of Art invites applications for a full-time, Assistant/Associate Professor in Graphic Design. The ideal candidate will have a MFA in Graphic Design and professional experience in the field. Additional expertise or interest in studio art would be welcomed. The YHC Department of Art offers BA degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design and has an innovative curriculum that invites collaboration between the majors. The department consists of three full-time faculty, and three part-time instructors teaching 45-50 undergraduate majors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Typical teaching load is 4/4. Courses in the graphic design curriculum include Digital Arts I, II, Typography, Illustration, Branding Identity, Professional Practices, and Senior Thesis. In addition, studio art classes may be taught based upon expertise.
  • Teaching all levels of students with a range of experience and skills.
  • Participating in the assessment of the students, program, and department through thesis reviews.
  • Committee work and service to the college.
  • Maintaining an awareness of contemporary art, design, and relevant technological advancements, and sharing that knowledge in the classroom.

  • Depth of knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications with specific experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, InDesign, Figma, and Procreate.

  • MFA, MA, MDes in Graphic Design or related field.
  • The ideal candidate has background, education or experience in Graphic Design or Digital Arts.

Communications Specialist

Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Specialist’s primary duty is to effectively operate the College’s social media accounts and the Young Harris College (YHC) mobile app. This position requires working with departments campus-wide to help students, faculty, staff, and the community stay current on events and activities sponsored by the College. As a part of the Communications team, the Specialist may also assist in proofreading and editing digital and print pieces as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be present at on-campus events for the purpose of providing social
    media content such as photos and videos to highlight College
    programming on appropriate channels
  •  Create and maintain a social media editorial calendar, detailing posts
    and events for each month
  •  Publish posts to YHC’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram,
    LinkedIn, etc.) on a regular schedule
  • Update social media headers, bios, and descriptions as needed
  • Utilize YHC hashtags and geolocations for YHC-related content
    which can be repurposed on College social media channels
  • Create and distribute a weekly email to faculty, staff, and students
    detailing upcoming events
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate current YHC students for the

Counselor – Part time

Young Harris College and the Office of Student Development invite applications from qualified candidates for a part-time counselor position. The counselor is responsible for providing counseling, psychological services, and/or therapy to students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The counselor’s primary role is to assess students’ needs and provide short term counseling and crisis intervention. They will direct clinical services to students for assessment and treatment as appropriate to clinical training and licensure. The counselor will work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of Campus Life and Student Wellness to provide leadership, needs assessment, strategic planning and outreach for programming and training. They will also serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team and collaborate with other departments to serve the needs of enriching students’ mental health.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include an earned master’s or an advanced degree in Counseling or Psychology from an accredited institution of higher education. Applicant must be licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or be an Associate Professional Counselor (ALPC) eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia within one year of being hired. Prior experience in a college or university counseling center setting is preferred.

Events Assistant / Set-Up Coordinator

The Events Assistant / Setup Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Director of Conference & Event Services, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of events held at Young Harris College, primarily within and around the Rollins Campus Center.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret daily setup worksheets, program/event confirmations, and room diagrams.
  • Coordinate event setup based on predetermined layouts.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of event set-up assistants. Assist with hiring processes and staff training programs.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, optimizing resource utilization.
  • Supervise the proper arrangement of furniture and equipment to ensure alignment with customer requests.
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings based on setup demand.
  • Handle all equipment and furniture with care, promptly reporting any issues to Maintenance Staff and the Director of CES.
  • Manage rental equipment inventory and conduct light cleaning as needed.
  • Assist Maintenance Staff with furniture, staging, and material setup as needed.
  • Become familiar with all of the audio-visual equipment available in the Campus Center as well as the Chapel.
  • Conduct walkthroughs of venues before meetings begin to assist with AV requirements as needed.
  • Enforce department and university policies within the Rollins Campus Center.
  • Foster an environment of outstanding customer service and maintain product/service quality standards.

Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes within Young Harris College’s 17 DII athletics program. This role involves designing and implementing strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs to enhance athletic performance, reduce the risk of injury, and promote overall physical development and increase performance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must possess Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or equivalent credential.
  • Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
  • A strong knowledge of basic strength training techniques and Olympic lifts and the ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by student-athletes, as well as the ability to visually monitor student-athletes.
  • Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for collegiate populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to interact positively with student-athletes, athletic trainers, and other members of the athletic department.
  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, and willing to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and schedule strength and conditioning programs to enhance the strength, power, agility, speed, conditioning, and overall performance of student-athletes. Programs should be tailored to the individual needs and demands of the different sports and student-athletes.

  • Work in cooperation with the athletic training staff to help reduce the risk of injury and to help develop return to play plans when injuries occur.
  • Facilitate a collaborative and communicative relationship with sport coaches and athletic training staff.
  • Maintain weight room equipment to ensure a clean and safe workspace for student-athletes. Oversee inventory management, procurement, and maintenance of exercise equipment, weights, machines, and training accessories.
  • Establish and maintain the highest level of safety standards during all training sessions and keep up with industry’s best practices for safety to mitigate injury risk during training.
  • Develop a schedule that is fair and inclusive to all programs to give everyone appropriate time for strength & conditioning training. Priority time is to be given to in-season programs.
  • Develop a system for tracking student-athlete attendance and progress in conjunction with sport coaches.
  • Determine and reinforce expectations for student-athlete conduct that mirror the school’s expectations.
  • Educate student-athletes on proper exercise technique, nutrition, hydration, recovery strategies, and lifestyle habits conducive to optimal performance.
  • Be a participating member of the athletics administrative team with department meetings, initiatives, strategies, events, and more.

Residence Life Coordinator

The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) position is a full-time, 11-month live-in position with meal plan which reports directly to the Director of Residence Life. The RLC is responsible for all administrative, educational, and supervisory tasks of assigned residential areas. While reporting directly to the Director of Residence Life, the RLC would be expected to supervise Resident Assistants in their residential area and assist the Director and Assistant Director with retention efforts, departmental initiatives, and programming processes with students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for all aspects of our residence life program and community, comprised of approximately 750+ students living in eight traditional, suite-style halls and campus apartments.
  •  Assists the Director to develop effective policies and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy, and inclusive developmental learning community among the various residential areas of the College.
  • Assists with the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of at least 10 part-time Residence Life Student staff positions.
  • Helps create a positive community environment in which students assume responsibility for their actions and creates a strong community that shows appreciation and respect for diversity.
  • Assists the Assistant Director of Residence Life and Housing Operations with the administration of a residential area that includes facility inspections, moves, housing chart upkeep, key audits, and maintenance referrals.
  • Engage with students daily and in an ongoing way by living in a furnished apartment within the residence halls and using the provided meal plan to eat meals in the dining hall.
  • Manages and maintains housing databases & reports
  • Assist the Director with departmental assessment efforts including satisfaction surveys and student retention.
  • Serves as liaison between Facilities, Campus Police, Dining Services, and the Student Development Office as they relate to maintenance, student events, projects and initiatives, and residential issues.
  • Supervises the residential programming model of their area including program approval, reviewing program proposals, providing program feedback, tracking program requirements, managing programming budget, making programming purchases, and implementing largescale departmental programming.
  • Provides retention support by working to identify students whose behaviors indicate a lack of academic success strategies and refer students for academic skills assistance, including tutoring, counseling, and/or career guidance.
  • Investigates and responds to concerns and complaints promptly that provides accurate information and good public relations/customer service.
  • Participates in the rotating “on-call” system for the residential area, responding to emergencies on evenings and weekends.  Maintains a 20-minute response time to the duty area. This may include when the college is closed (i.e. Fall Break, Holidays, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer).
  • Complete any other administrative tasks, duties, or responsibilities assigned by the Director of Residential Living or Vice President for Student Development

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two to four years related experience in increasingly responsible and professional roles related to residence life, student involvement, and/or student life areas.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or another related field. Experience with small, liberal arts colleges, either professionally or educationally.

Lab Manager

Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time position as lab manager beginning August 1, 2024. The applicant must possess a BS in a science discipline though an MS is preferred. The successful applicant must be willing to keep an inventory of equipment, maintain orderly stockrooms, order supplies, help prepare labs as needed for biology, chemistry and environmental science courses and oversee student lab workers. He/she must also manage lab wastes and be knowledgeable about lab safety and chemical use and safe disposal in compliance with Federal standards. Senior Financial Aid Counselor -Remote

The primary function of the Senior Financial Aid Counselor is to guide prospective and currently enrolled students and their families through the financial aid process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Counsel students and families on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and various

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • 1+ years experience working with federal, state, and local financial aid policies and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, mathematics, other related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Prior financial aid experience at a four-year institution
  • 2+ years proven experience of successful performance in a fast-paced financial aid office

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision of work study students

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

  • There is a possibility that the position could be a hybrid or remote position.
  • Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time while handling frequent interruptions
  • Requires extended hours during peak times as well as occasional weekend work
  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work
  • Requires talking, hearing, and seeing as important elements for completing assigned tasks
  • Requires comfort speaking in front of large groups
  • Requires the use of various electronic tools
  • Requires the ability to relate to others and to partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes
  • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, instructing, and/or speaking with others
  • Requires the ability to respond appropriately to constructive feedback from management
