Frequently asked questions about student life

Get the answers to common questions from both on-campus and commuter students.

Can I use the library?

Yes! The Zell & Shirley Miller Library boasts a collection of nearly 100,000 books, more than 35 computers, and most importantly, a highly trained staff who are here to help you with your class work and any other questions you might have. Every digital resource the library offers is available to student commuters from home.

Zell & Shirley Miller Library provides access to databases and other resources remotely.

How do I find out about campus events?

For campus-wide events, visit the College’s event calendar and the YHC Hub.

How can I meet other students?

Get involved in clubs and activities, participate in intramural sports, study with classmates, and attend events hosted on campus. We encourage you to visit the Office of Student Development, located on the second floor of the Rollins Campus Center, and learn more about available programs and events.

Where can I park?

Commuter students are permitted to park in the Clegg, Goolsby, Maxwell, and Fine Arts Annex lots. Parking passes are available in the YHC Police Department office, located in Manget Hall. All vehicles must be parked clearly within a designated parking space. Designated parking spaces are provided in all parking lots for holders of DMV Disabled license plates or place cards. The parking fee is $200 per year (fall and spring).

Where can I eat and relax?

There are many great places around campus to relax, study, and grab other students for some help on your homework. Here are some suggested places:

  • Rollins Campus Center
  • Zell & Shirley Miller Library
  • Harp Recreation & Graduation Center
  • Academic Lounges
  • Goolsby Center
  • Maxwell Center
  • Clegg Fine Arts Center

If you forget your lunch, the Grace Rollins Dining Hall is a friendly, comfortable, all-you-care-to-eat location and is the perfect place to catch up with friends. Commuter meal plans are available. Stop by the dining hall for additional details.

Where can I check my email?

Check your email in the 24-hour study computer lab or in the Zell & Shirley Miller Library during scheduled hours. Most YHC buildings have wireless internet access, allowing students to check email on personal laptops at any time.
