Young Harris College’s Campus Gate Art Gallery Presents Senior Thesis Exhibition

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College will present the annual Senior Thesis Exhibition, a culmination of artwork by graduating senior Taylor Posey, of Milton, Ga. The show will be on display Tuesday, Nov. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 7. A special reception with the artist will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Campus Gate Art Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Posey’s exhibition will incorporate a variety of mediums including paintings, mixed media, photography, and film. Her diverse body of work will represent her growth as a student artist at YHC.

“The Art Department has done wonders for me,” said Posey. “I’ve grown so much as an individual and as an artist. The professors have really encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and not to be afraid of experimenting.”

Posey, who credits the YHC Fine Arts faculty for much of her growth and success, is excited to showcase how her creativity has grown during her time as a student.

“As a sophomore I would stick to a certain size of canvas,” explained Posey. “Now I’m painting on canvases 5-feet tall and 8-feet long while adding different elements to that canvas such as yarn! That’s the most exciting part of being an art major here—there’s really no restrictions to artistic creativity.”

After graduation, Posey plans to take a gap year before entering graduate school. “I’ve found myself as an artist, I’ve made friends that will always be near and dear to my heart, I’ve learned so much about what to expect in the future, and I’m proud to say I will be a Young Harris College graduate.”

The CGAG is located at 5149 College St. on the YHC campus. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, contact (706) 379-5114 or [email protected].
