2019 YHC Graduate Awarded Prestigious Davies-Jackson Scholarship
February 8, 2019 NewsroomYoung Harris College graduate Alejandro Lemus-Gomez, ’19, was recently awarded the Davies-Jackson Scholarship to study at St. John’s College at the University of Cambridge in England. The scholarship provides a unique opportunity for students with exceptional academic records who are among the first generation in their families to graduate from college. With only 28 recipients between 1990 and 2018, the Davies-Jackson Scholarship is a prestigious and rare honor. Lemus-Gomez is the first student from YHC to earn the scholarship and only the third from a college in Georgia.
YHC to Host Book Launch for Poet Chelsea Rathburn
February 5, 2019 NewsroomYoung Harris College will host a book launch for Assistant Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing Chelsea Rathburn to celebrate her newest collection "Still Life With Mother and Knife" on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. The event will take place in the Rollins Campus Center’s Hatcher Dining Room on YHC’s campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582. This event is free and open to the public.
YHC Presents February Fine Arts Events
February 1, 2019 NewsroomYoung Harris College invites the community to attend several fine arts events this month. Events include the Valentine’s Day Cabaret Fundraiser, the Theatre Mainstage performance of Oklahoma! by Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Mu Phi Epsilon Member Recital and an art exhibit featuring the works of Karen Schwartz. These events will be held on the Young Harris College campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582.

January 25, 2019 NewsroomYoung Harris College recently hosted the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) District 9 Meeting. District 9 includes 24 counties throughout North Georgia. Chiefs of police, officers and executives from law enforcement agencies across District 9 attended the meeting for training purposes and to discuss other GACP business.

YHC Campus Gate Art Gallery Opens New Exhibit
January 11, 2019 NewsroomThe Campus Gate Art Gallery (CGAG) at Young Harris College is pleased to present the works of Karen Schwartz. The exhibit will open Thursday, Jan. 24 with a reception at 6 p.m. Schwartz’s exhibit will be on display through Friday, Mar. 1 during regular gallery hours (Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.). The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
YHC High School Honor Band Clinic Offers Three Free Concerts
January 10, 2019 NewsroomAs part of the upcoming Young Harris College High School Honor Band Clinic, YHC will host three concerts that are free and open to the public. The first is a guest concert by the Ringgold High School Wind Symphony on Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the YHC Concert Band and Brass Choir will perform at 12:30 p.m. and the YHC High School Honor Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. All three concerts will take place in Glenn~McGinnis Hall on the YHC campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582.
New Planetarium Show Comes to Young Harris College
January 9, 2019 NewsroomYoung Harris College will host “Phantom of the Universe” at the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, Friday, Jan. 25, Friday, Feb. 15 and Friday, Feb. 22. The planetarium is housed in the Maxwell Center for Mathematics and Sciences on the YHC campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582. Each planetarium show costs $5 for adults, $3 for children and is free for YHC students, faculty and staff. All shows are open to the public.
Young Harris College Names 2019 Woodward Scholar
January 4, 2019 NewsroomYoung Harris College junior Hannah Walker of Cumming, Ga., was recently awarded the Beverly Barrow Woodward, ’53, Endowed Scholarship, established by Leonard and Beverly Woodward of Rome, Ga., and granted annually to one YHC student to study abroad in England at Harlaxton College.

Young Harris College Students Excel at Singing Competition
November 27, 2018 NewsroomSeveral students from the Young Harris College music and musical theatre programs traveled to Rome, Ga., along with their teachers to compete in the National Association of Teachers of Singing student auditions. The event, which included singers from all over the state of Georgia, took place Nov. 2-3 on the campus of Shorter University.
YHC Students Participate in The Daffodil Project

Young Harris College Presents “Christmas at YHC”

Undefeated YHC Men’s Soccer Team Advances to NCAA Division II Region Tournament
November 5, 2018 NewsroomOn Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., the undefeated Young Harris College men’s soccer team will compete in the NCAA Division II Region Tournament. The Mountain Lions will play on their home field at Young Harris College, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582. The game is open to the public, and tickets cost $8 for adults, $3 for students with a YHC ID and seniors (62 and older) and $1 for children (ages 2-12).
