Adjunct Instructor of Business and Public Policy (Project Management)

The Division of Professional Studies at Young Harris College invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor, non-tenure track, term appointment beginning January 1, 2025. The Department of Business and Public Policy is an interdisciplinary program inspired by former Georgia Governor Zell Miller that trains students to think critically and creatively, in the liberal arts tradition, about the interplay between business and the political process. The department offers majors in Finance and Accounting, Marketing, Management, Business Statistics and Analytics, Business Administration and Law and Public Policy.

The ideal candidate will teach Project Management in the Business and Public Policy Department in the Spring 2025 semester. Strong applicants from all business administration and management fields will be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate prior teaching excellence in an undergraduate program.

Assistant Professor of Biology

Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor of Biology position beginning January 1, 2025 (preferred), or August 1, 2025 (optional).

General Description/Primary Purpose

The successful applicant will teach courses in general biology for science majors and non-science majors, introductory environmental science courses, and upper-level courses related to the applicant’s specialty. Applicants with expertise in teaching freshwater biology, physical geography, climate change, soil science, and/or R and R-studio are of particular interest. Applicants are expected to be active scholars who can direct undergraduate students in guided research experiences.

Assistant AD for Facilities and Game Operations

General Description/Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of facilities and game day operations for Young Harris College’s 17 DII athletics program. This role involves daily oversight of the maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness of facilities, as well as assisting in the management of any capital facility projects, all in conjunction with the Budd Group and the VP for Business and Administration. In addition, this position will oversee ticket operations, game day operations, and game day staffing for all events on campus. Last but not least, this position will oversee travel, concessions, and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee facilities maintenance and improvements as directed by the Athletic Director with input from the VP for Business and Administration.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of game day setup and operations, this includes gate, concessions, student workers, and table/field support.
  • Lead the hiring, scheduling, training, supervising, and evaluating student workers and part-time staff for gameday operations.
  • Liaison between visiting institutions, umpires/referees, and fans for parking, locker rooms, restrooms, concessions, etc.
  • Process and track game-day payroll (students, community members, etc.)
  • Oversee and manage team transportation travel for off campus competitions.
  • Responsible for the daily maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness of all athletic facilities.
  • Lead coordinator for athletic capital improvements projects.
  • Act as an extension of the campus facilities Budd Group and build strong relationships with their team.
  • Manage athletic ticket operations, tracking, reconciliation and staffing.
  • Acquire, stock, and manage concessions through appropriate vendors.
  • Responsible for setup and coordination of special events.
  • Oversee housing for athletics coaches & staff.
  • Be a participating member of the athletics senior administrative team with department meetings, initiatives, strategies, events, and more.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education/Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience and/or expertise in facility maintenance and upkeep, as well as game day operations at the collegiate level.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to interact positively with student-athletes, campus personnel, external partners, and other members of the athletic department.
  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, and willing to work evenings and weekends.

Communications Specialist

Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Specialist’s primary duty is to effectively operate the College’s social media accounts and the Young Harris College (YHC) mobile app. This position requires working with departments campus-wide to help students, faculty, staff, and the community stay current on events and activities sponsored by the College. As a part of the Communications team, the Specialist may also assist in proofreading and editing digital and print pieces as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be present at on-campus events for the purpose of providing social
    media content such as photos and videos to highlight College
    programming on appropriate channels
  •  Create and maintain a social media editorial calendar, detailing posts
    and events for each month
  •  Publish posts to YHC’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram,
    LinkedIn, etc.) on a regular schedule
  • Update social media headers, bios, and descriptions as needed
  • Utilize YHC hashtags and geolocations for YHC-related content
    which can be repurposed on College social media channels
  • Create and distribute a weekly email to faculty, staff, and students
    detailing upcoming events
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate current YHC students for the
    Social Media Ambassador Program
  • Aid campus departments, including but not limited to The President’s
    Office, Alumni Engagement, Admissions, Student Involvement,
    Academic Affairs, and Advancement, to develop and post relevant
    social media information
  • Schedule photography for events and ensure photos are posted in a
    timely manner to the YHC Flickr account
  • Monitor and serve as the primary administrator of the YHC App
  • Serve on committees as needed

Counselor – Part time

Young Harris College and the Office of Student Development invite applications from qualified candidates for a part-time counselor position. The counselor is responsible for providing counseling, psychological services, and/or therapy to students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The counselor’s primary role is to assess students’ needs and provide short term counseling and crisis intervention. They will direct clinical services to students for assessment and treatment as appropriate to clinical training and licensure. The counselor will work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of Campus Life and Student Wellness to provide leadership, needs assessment, strategic planning and outreach for programming and training. They will also serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team and collaborate with other departments to serve the needs of enriching students’ mental health.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include an earned master’s or an advanced degree in Counseling or Psychology from an accredited institution of higher education. Applicant must be licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or be an Associate Professional Counselor (ALPC) eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia within one year of being hired. Prior experience in a college or university counseling center setting is preferred.

Events Assistant / Set-Up Coordinator

The Events Assistant / Setup Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Director of Conference & Event Services, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of events held at Young Harris College, primarily within and around the Rollins Campus Center.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret daily setup worksheets, program/event confirmations, and room diagrams.
  • Coordinate event setup based on predetermined layouts.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of event set-up assistants. Assist with hiring processes and staff training programs.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, optimizing resource utilization.
  • Supervise the proper arrangement of furniture and equipment to ensure alignment with customer requests.
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings based on setup demand.
  • Handle all equipment and furniture with care, promptly reporting any issues to Maintenance Staff and the Director of CES.
  • Manage rental equipment inventory and conduct light cleaning as needed.
  • Assist Maintenance Staff with furniture, staging, and material setup as needed.
  • Become familiar with all of the audio-visual equipment available in the Campus Center as well as the Chapel.
  • Conduct walkthroughs of venues before meetings begin to assist with AV requirements as needed.
  • Enforce department and university policies within the Rollins Campus Center.
  • Foster an environment of outstanding customer service and maintain product/service quality standards.

Public Services Associate, Miller Library, Young Harris College

Reporting to the Dean of Library Services, this full-time position’s primary duty is to facilitate the library user experience for the YHC community. The associate works extensively with students and other patrons, managing library materials and services, and supervising student employees. Other duties include the following:

  • Assisting in daily operations, including assisting patrons
  • Training, scheduling, and supervising student public service employees
  • Engaging the YHC community with by developing displays, events, publicity, and programming relating to institutional initiatives, local recreational opportunities, and the region’s diverse cultural offerings
  • Overseeing user services, including circulation, reserves, holds, recalls, and overdue materials
  • Managing InterLibrary Loan (ILL) services
  • Ensuring the accurate reshelving and maintenance of physical collections

Senior Financial Aid Counselor-Hybrid

The primary function of the Senior Financial Aid Counselor is to guide prospective and currently enrolled students and their families through the financial aid process.

Essential Functions:

  • Counsel students and families on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and various financial aid programs
  • Respond to student inquiries in person, by phone, and by email
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, state rules, and institutional policiespertaining to financial aid

Technical Services Associate, Miller Library, Young Harris College

Reporting to the Dean of Library Services, this full-time position’s primary duties are to facilitate the acquisition and cataloging of materials, to manage internal and external electronic resources, and the administer the library’s automated management system. Other duties include the following:

  • Assisting in daily operations, including assisting patrons
  • Overseeing library acquisitions
  • Managing cataloging operations
  • Maintaining library software and automated systems provided by several vendors, and ensuring that library staff are trained on updates to these systems
  • Coordinating updates to library-maintained web pages, in coordination with the Office of Communications
  • Collaborating with all other student and professional library staff members to ensure a positive experience for patrons
