Dr. Jennifer Schroeder
Professor of Biology, Coordinator of International Studies - Mathematics, Science & Technology
Dr. Jennifer Schroeder joined the biology faculty at YHC in the fall of 2010. She enjoys teaching courses that focus on the intricacies of how cells work and the genetics behind their regulation. To help students better grasp concepts about molecules that are too small to see, she incorporates many interactive models into her lectures. She has also been known to develop board games and escape rooms for her students. Dr. Schroeder regularly mentors students performing undergraduate research, with projects centering around the aryl hydrocarbon receptor and ranging in scope from diabetes and cancer prevention to circadian rhythm regulation. She is an active member of the Georgia Academy of Science and the Association for Biology Laboratory Education. She loves quilting, traveling, and getting out in nature to photograph wild mushrooms and birds.
