Young Harris College Board of Trustees Appoints Interim President

YOUNG HARRIS, GA – Young Harris College Board of Trustees Chairman Brantley Barrow, ’74, announced today that C. Brooks Seay, Ed.D., J.D., M.B.A., C.P.A, the College’s vice president for finance and operations and chief financial officer, has been appointed interim president and will begin serving at the conclusion of President Cathy Cox’s term on July 1.

“Dr. Seay has done an outstanding job in her current role,” said Barrow. “She has provided data the Board has never had before to consider options and make decisions. She is eminently qualified for the interim position, and has earned the respect of both faculty and staff during her two years at Young Harris College.”

Dr. Seay brings 30 years of business experience—including more than a decade in higher education—to YHC. Prior to her role at the College, she served as chief business officer and associate dean of the School of Law at Emory University. Prior to her position at Emory, Dr. Seay served as a financial leader at Ashe & Rafuse, LLP, Kilpatrick Stockton, LLP and Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP.

She received her bachelor of business administration degree from Oglethorpe University in 1985, juris doctorate from Georgia State University in 1994 and master of business administration from Emory University in 2009. Additionally, she earned a doctor of education degree in higher education administration and leadership from the University of Georgia in 2011.

Dr. Seay will serve as interim president until the 22nd president of Young Harris College is in place. The executive search firm of Witt/Kieffer has been retained to conduct the presidential search. Finalists for the position will interview in September, with a goal of selecting the successful candidate by the end of the calendar year.
