Ketrina Mitchell Appointed to the Young Harris College Board of Trustees
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Ketrina Mitchell has recently been appointed to the Young Harris College Board of Trustees. CEO and co-founder of I Beat A.L.L., Ketrina Mitchell has joined the Board of Trustees in its dedication to the College’s academic excellence, responsible citizenship, and personal and professional growth.
“Being able to serve on the board as an elected trustee for the prestigious Young Harris College is an honor,” said Ms. Mitchell. “I look forward to not just serving, but to helping create a more diverse learning environment that all youth from all communities will thrive in!”
Ms. Mitchell started I Beat. A.L.L. with her late husband, Coach Dwynell Mitchell, in 2009. Dwynell had been diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (A.L.L.) but the couple continued to host outdoor basketball camps, eventually renting space to host after-school programs and summer campus. In 2011, they purchased their current facility. Ketrina continues the legacy of what she and Dwynell started together.
Young Harris College’s partnership with I Beat A.L.L. is designed to meet the educational needs of Fayette County, Georgia. Its mission is to give students the opportunity to obtain an education they may not otherwise be able to afford and to reward them for their academic excellence, impeccable moral conduct, and athletic abilities. Geared toward minority students, the program allows students to experience the vast opportunities provided by YHC, while creating a more diverse college community. The partnership provides four students a year with scholarships to attend the College.
Committed to championing youth and their education, Ms. Mitchell is well suited to be a trustee. YHC’s Board of Trustees provides strategic leadership to the College by employing its members’ expertise in everything from finance to philanthropy. The trustees act as members of the governing board of YHC, which is responsible for basic oversight of the institution, including setting educational and fiscal policy; granting degrees; and awarding promotion and tenure to faculty.
