YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — The Appalachian College Association (ACA) Board of Directors and ACA President Beth Rushing announced on Tuesday, May 24 that Young Harris College has been approved for ACA membership.
“Young Harris College is the first new ACA member in more than a decade, and we are excited to welcome this institution to our consortium,” said Rushing.
According to ACA Board Chair Burton Webb, president of the University of Pikeville, “Young Harris is an outstanding addition. Their mission and values parallel those of other member institutions, and they will be wonderful partners in our work.”
“We are very excited to become a part of the ACA,” said YHC President Dr. Drew L. Van Horn. “The goals of YHC and the ACA are a perfect match. Through this relationship, our students, faculty, and staff will all benefit. The ACA is the premiere organization for schools located in the Appalachian Mountains.”
The Appalachian College Association is a consortium of independent colleges and universities in central Appalachia. Since 1990, this organization has served the Appalachian region through its support of faculty, staff, and students of its member institutions. Together, members of this consortium can do more than they could otherwise do alone. The ACA provides faculty research fellowships, student research funding, faculty and staff professional development, an online Center for Teaching and Learning, an online library, and digital archives.
YHC looks forward to the years ahead with the ACA.
