Outdoor activities
Outdoor recreation is a huge part of life at YHC, with a campus located in the southern Appalachian Mountains, nestled between the Chattahoochee, Cherokee and Nantahala national forests.
Students have immediate access to rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing and other exciting outdoor opportunities. The Appalachian Trail is only 15 minutes from campus, and a short drive leads to stunning mountain peaks, exhilarating whitewater rivers, and crystal-clear lakes.
Leadership opportunities
Young Harris College develops students into successful leaders. One of the best ways to enhance and sharpen these skills is through on and off campus involvement. Campus leadership opportunities include:
- Officer role in student organizations
- FYTT leader
- Resident assistant
- CAB chair, co-chair or general member
- SGA senator or officer
To get involved, please contact Trevor Pendergrass, Coordinator of Campus Life and Student Activities.

Community service
The Office of Student Development, along with other campus partners, facilitates regular community service opportunities for the YHC community through SERVE (Service, Education, Responsibility, Voice and Engagement).
All students are encouraged to participate in service events throughout the year. Greek and service organizations are required to complete at least one service/volunteer project per semester.
