Due to current road conditions, Young Harris College will be closed today, Wednesday, Feb. 10.
What started as a student interest group on campus has grown into a extraordinary bachelor’s degree program in Outdoor Leadership. Young Harris College saw a chance to utilize our wonderful natural surroundings and launch a program in Outdoor Leadership, and now our graduates are climbing guides in Denali and ecotourism entrepreneurs in New Zealand.
What makes our program unique? The location and the people. The National Forest Service permits us to program in the Chattahoochee, Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests that surround us. The faculty and students who choose to come to Young Harris College are people who, like you, appreciate the Enchanted Valley and all the bounty nature brings.
You’ll study land and water pursuits management, environmental ethics, primitive survival, and much more, all in-depth and hands-on. You’ll be certified as a wilderness first responder and go off the grid for a life-changing field experience in your junior year. These challenging outdoor experiences will teach you about yourself and who you are as a leader.
Once you visit campus and learn more about our Outdoor Leadership program, you’ll see why Young Harris College is right for you.
